Startup Support

Entrepreneurs for the future (e4f)

Is a mentor-led incubation programme based at Birmingham Science Park Aston, dedicated to producing and supporting the next generation of tech entrepreneurs.

During a 6 month incubation period, the e4f team works with fledgling entrepreneurs to create an action plan for success, which will transform them from individuals with ideas to revenue-generating or investment-ready companies. The objective is to promote new high-growth technology businesses to diversify the region’s economy, create new high-value jobs and retain more of the city’s graduate population as they look for their first employment. e4f is also there to support people leaving previous employment that want to set up on their own, rather than work for someone else.

Since e4f was established in November 2009, it has supported and contributed to the creation of over 35 new and innovative businesses working within the following sectors: Digital Media, ICT, Med Tech and Green Tech.

The e4f offering includes:

e4f now also offers a membership package, allowing non-e4f participants to benefit from our supportive and collaborative working environment. There are various different flavours of membership available, so you can choose the most suitable for your growing business. For more information about our hot-desking and membership packages, visit www.e4f.co.uk.

e4f was established with the assistance of Birmingham City Council and Be Birmingham’s Working Neighbourhood Fund. The programme is now part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and sponsored by Marks and Clerk LLP, Chiltern Railways and Grant Thornton.

Whilst many early stage businesses have interesting ideas or technology, they still require a substantial intervention to prepare them for seed investment. The provision of “smart money”, which includes mentoring, support and introductions alongside pre-seed capital, has far greater value to these businesses than cash alone. This approach has already been successfully developed in the US by Y Combinator and TechStars and is known as a “pre-seed accelerator programme”.

Oxygen Accelerator is open to teams throughout the world. See the Programme or FAQs for more details.
