More than bricks and mortar BSPA works in partnership with the City Council to drive innovation led regeneration within the City and the region, BSPA offers the ‘opportunity to innovate through partnership’. It is actively looking to work with and bring together the public and private sectors. This is achieved by establishing new partnerships in all aspects of its offering; this includes the Innovation Centres and Science Parks within the region and beyond.

The offering of BSPA is being extended to fully encompass the role of the incubator and innovation centre, helping to create new ventures and then providing a flexible, highly connected and collaborative culture to catalyse the development and growth of high-tech companies. As companies grow they graduate into larger facilities on the same campus which allows them to continue using the parks resources as well as extend their service offering to accommodate their business needs.

BSPA views its urban location as pivotal to its future as it acts as a focal point for creativity across a range of business sectors within Birmingham. It is integrated into the urban fabric to bring knowledge back to the heart of the city. These aspirations reflect Birmingham’s ‘global city with a local heart’ approach by promoting a highly e-nabled environment to ensure Birmingham is connected with international cities with similar innovation-driven regeneration agendas.

The BSPA Objectives

Digital Agenda.

The launch of the Ideas and Communications suite in January 2011 has enabled companies at the Park to communicate with colleagues, clients and contacts from across the world using the latest Cisco TelePresence® video conferencing platforms. This expansion in the Science Parks offering is one of the first embodiments of BSPA positioning itself as the gateway to Birmingham’s Digital District in its ambition to drive digital connectivity.

As part of the digital agenda for Birmingham BSPAs focus is and will continue to be on creating interfaces between the Clean Tech, Digital Media and Creative Sectors through the application of innovative ICT services, such as the Ideas and Communications Suite and indeed, new ICT businesses. These interfaces will stimulate wealth, and hence job creation through exciting new businesses and smarter ways of working.
